The Whisperer of Souls

Riya Yurvashi Jankee.
À l’heure du tout à l’image et du buzz sans suite, «l’express» souhaite faire découvrir la plume de poètes, de chanteurs, d’écrivains et de tous ceux qui jettent leur âme sur le papier, et qui mettent en mots des réflexions profondes.
Why I write
Writing The Whisperer of Souls has been both a refuge and a revelation. An echo of the unseen, this book became my way of giving voice to the silent emotions and thoughts that arise when everything else goes quiet– those whispers in the back of my mind that refuse to fade. Poetry has long been my medium to understand the complex dance between beauty that fades and meaning that endures.
The Purpose Behind My Words
This book is about the entity of the world and human connection, both with others and the hidden parts of ourselves. The ‘Whisperer’ is an observer mirroring moments and emotions that many of us have lived through love, heartbreak, and the pursuit of meaning. My aim was to create something that would transcend time, a reminder that no matter how personal our feelings may seem, we are never truly alone in them. Whether it’s the joy of fleeting beauty or the ache of loss, The Whisperer of Souls speaks to the shared human experience.
The Emotions that Fueled This Work
Writing this collection has been deeply personal. Some days I wrote from a place of stillness, others from turmoil. There were moments of doubt and vulnerability, but ultimately, the words helped me find clarity. These poems reflect not only my own experiences but also the experiences of others, which I’ve woven into a subliminal way of conveying those emotions. It was as though the words themselves were whispering to me, helping me make sense of the feelings that felt too much to carry alone.
Through this journey, I’ve realized that we are all part of a larger tapestry, intricately woven together by the threads of our shared experiences. I hope that The Whisperer of Souls will offer readers a moment of pause, reflection, and connection—to themselves and the world around them. I hope the whispers of this book reach the readers as much as it has to me.
After spending quiet moments reflecting, I wrote the following poem whereby the world isn’t always seen as a place of peace and beauty. Sometimes, it mirrors the chaos and fears within us. The Whisperer, with a mind haunted by doubt and solitude, often observes nature through a more unsettling lens, seeing what others overlook—its eerie, untamed side. In the following poem, the Whisperer confronts the darker forces of nature, revealing a sense of unease that reflects her own inner turmoil:
At night.
In the abyss,
After a rainy day,
As she hovers in her garden,
Walking barefoot on the wet grass,
Contemplating on herself.
-She wonders what nature has to offer.
Alone with her thoughts,
Nature terrifies her,
The wind whizzes,
With trees whispering secrets.
The branches rustle,
With the leaves jiggling wickedly.
-She wonders if nature is against her.
The cacophony of sounds,
Frogs croaking,
Cicadas buzzing,
Grasshoppers chirping,
Usurping the serenity of the night.
Unknown of nature,
-She retreats herself in her cocoon
